Wimbledon
Jonathan invited me to Wimbledon (thanks Jonathan!) on Saturday, 28 June. We had tickets to court 1 and the main match was Venus Williams vs Maria Sanchez. Our tickets were right in the middle of the side, so could see play without doing the head sideways thing! Here's a pic of the court - so many people! Amazing! We had really good weather on the day too, which is great considering the Wimbledon tendency to rain out. 
One of the many things that amused me were the ball boys and girls. Whenever the players took their little breaks, these kids run after them and open up the umbrellas - even if it's for only 10 seconds! One can really see how Wimbledon has been an institution for so many years! Everything from the co-ordinated uniforms to the Pimms on Murray Mound (yes, Henman Hill has been renamed in honour of the current British tennis player trying to make it!) After the ladies game we watched parts of Gasquet vs Simon which was a rather thrilling match! 
Then it was time for doubles, and we figured to rather go and queue for returns. So, the concept is that people who've had enough leave and hand in their tickets. These are then resold for a fiver for charity and others can go and enjoy some tennis on courts 1, 2 or centre court. We were after centre court tickets and the Nadal vs Kiefer game! So, 3 hours of queuing later it was all worth it! Our seats were dead centre, 6 rows from the net. Yup, we could almost smell their sweat, or in the case of every girl's happiness - watch the lovely Nadal up close and personal. Yummy! So, indeed a happy person I was, and fully enjoyed the play which lasted until almost 21h30! Then time for some pimms and back to the country side called home.
