Scotland, Easter 2007 (2)

First stop on our scenic drive through the highlands was Edradour - the smallest whiskey distillery in Scotland! They only produce 3600 bottles per week (which is apparently very little in comparison)! Having the first whiskey just after breakfast is always a good way to start the day! A tour of the distillery and then on to taste some more!

Then via Pitlochry, we drove to Kenmore for some lunch. This is at the mouth of Loch Tay and Taymouth Castle, so we had some spectacular views with our cheese! Onwards after lunch, via the tiniest single track road we drove. Here we saw some of the most spectacular scenery, even snow on distant mountains! Purple heather, the bluest of lochs and skies, rock fences and sheep. It felt like we were in a completely different world! So peaceful! And so we came to the town of Dunkeld. Here we had a squizz around the Cathedral - most amazing in that half of it is a ruin and the other half is a working church! Whilst exploring, Thinus, Helga, Kim, Liska and Mark had found the river Tay again and were enjoying the lazy afternoon sun! Such a good way to rest in the afternoon! But, then it was time to get back for dinner at Jean's (the lady where we were staying). Not before sneaking in the back way to have a look at Glamis Castle! This is where the Queen Mother was a child, and were Duncan of MacBeth was murdered! Alas, we didn't have time to go inside, hopefully next time!
